Hi Bellas! 🌸
National Women’s Health Week is here, taking place May 11–17, and you know what that means — it’s time to water your roots, bask in the sunshine, and put your wellness front and center.
And did you know? May is also Mental Health Awareness Month and Physical Fitness Month — so we’re not just focusing on one petal of the flower, we’re tending to the whole garden.
At Canna Bella Wellness, we believe self-care isn’t selfish — it’s sacred. This month is all about prioritizing your health in every season of life, whether you’re blooming through your 20s or thriving in your 50s and beyond. And we’re here to remind you: you are worth every ounce of care, love, and intention.
What is National Women’s Health Week?
Celebrated each May beginning on Mother's Day, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women's Health leads National Women's Health Week.
The week encourages women to check in on their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It’s about proactive care, preventive screenings, hormone education, movement, and discovering what makes you feel nourished, safe, strong, and supported.
This year, it's also spotlighting the mind-body connection and the power of movement to boost not only physical health, but also mental clarity, emotional regulation, and energy levels.
Key Health Highlights for 2025:
-
Menopause: More than 1 million women in the U.S. experience menopause each year, with the average age being 52.
-
Mental Health: Women are nearly twice as likely as men to experience major depression. Around 1 in 5 women face mental health challenges during pregnancy or postpartum.
-
Cancer: Cancer causes 1 in 6 deaths among women. Women under 50 are nearly twice as likely to develop cancer compared to men in the same age group.
